Like you, I’ve been wondering what’s going on with the pie shop that was supposed to open in Tacoma this month. I got an email this morning from Alyssa Lewis, owner of the Seattle Pie Company with husband Patrick, who gave me an update about the future of her pie shop, Old Town Pie Company, on North 30th. I wrote about the pie shop here in February when the popular Seattle pie shop and cafe announced it would open a Tacoma outpost in the space that formerly housed Old Town Photo. Lewis told me today….

“We are having some difficulties with the owner of the building. Everything is still up in the air. I don’t want to give info prematurely. We are just trying to stay positive in hopes that we can bring our pie to Tacoma. As soon as I have concrete info you will be the first to know.”

And so the pie lovers wait. I’ve asked Lewis to clarify and to give an update about what those problems might be and if she expects them resolved, or if they may be looking at another location. I’ll report back when I get that information.

Here’s something to sink your teeth into in the meantime. Seattle Pie Company sells its pies at the Metropolitan Market and recently began offering Sweet Strawberry Rhubarb and American Apple Pie.
