From my reporter’s notebook, I’ve collected all kinds of odds and ends in the South Sound restaurant world: The opening of the Harmon Tap Room is next week, Bella Kitchen Essentials cooking store is opening May 22 in Gig Harbor, the tea room at the Urban Exchange opened this week. Also, there are plenty of events happening. Farrelli’s is hosting dough tossing classes, Chambers Bay Grill is holding its first wine dinner and there’s a spring wine tasting in Ashford next weekend. Throughout May: Pizza school: Farrelli’s Wood Fired Pizza is having dough tossing classes at several of its stores. May 15: Mark your calendars for a wine tasting at the Mountain Haus @ Whittaker Mountaineering, 30027 Hwy 706 E., Ashford. The tasting will be from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. and will feature the wines of Flying Dreams, Stringtown Cellars and Stina’s Cellars. From the press release, “Meet the Vintners. Leroy Radford from Flying Dreams Winery will be pouring his artisanal wines, John Adams from Stringtown Cellars will be serving handcrafted reds and whites and Perry Preston from Stina’s Cellars will be showcasing three of his wines.” Find more details here.
