Permits and details are taking longer than expected for the Old Town Pie Company to open on schedule this month. The pie store and cafe is the Tacoma outpost of the Seattle Pie Company that I wrote about in February. Click more to read the details about the opening date.

Here’s an email I got from Alyssa Lewis, who runs Seattle Pie Company with husband Patrick:

Okay update! The permits took a little longer than expected, Of course! Opening date is going to be late April/mid May. I will keep you posted on exact dates of all of the events. Tomorrow we are going to wrap up the windows and put “IT’S COMING”.

We are really excited about hyping the shop for its grand opening. … We also have a special guest appearance planned on chefs row at the Proctor Metro Market a week before the shop opening so that customers can meet Patrick and I and try all of our pies. Our pie sales at the Metro Market in Proctor have been their number one selling bakery item since December and now the pies are flying out of there, even in non pie season.

At chef’s row we are going to share our campaign “Taking the Pie off the Plate” to all of the future pie shop customers. We really want to give Tacoma a huge welcoming. We are working out event dates with the Metro Market as we get closer to opening.

Keep checking here for more news on the opening of the shop.
