Carole Whitmire just called to ask for help in finding a southern delicacy. The Puyallup resident is a fan of deep-fried pickles. She loves them so much, she recently told a friend visiting Memphis to sample the fried dill pickles at BB King’s Blues club. Her friend returned home with an affinity for the fried dills and now Whitmire wants to repay a favor by taking that friend to get fried pickles in Tacoma. Whitmire searched, but could find none on menus here. I can’t say that I’ve found any at Tacoma area restaurants, either. The closest I know of, outside of Seattle, is a 45-minute drive, Big Bubba’s Burgers in Allyn.

Whitmire said she found plenty of places in Seattle, namely Ballard, that serve them (Murphy’s, Maritime Pacific Brewing Company, People’s Pub and Ballard Loft among them). But she said she doesn’t want to go to Seattle for something she thinks she can find here. Cheers to that. So where are fried pickles in the Tacoma area? Anyone?
