Playing with dad’s band, touring with Zeppelin tribute emotional experiences for Bonham

With Led Zeppelin, “Bonzo” John Bonham provided the techtonic beats behind some of rock’s most epic recordings. Then his untimely death brought the band’s legendary run to a sudden, shocking halt on Sept. 25, 1980.

But 30 years later, his legacy lives on with his son. It has been three years since Jason Bonham sat in with Zeppelin’s surviving members during a one-off reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena (“Kashmir” video here.) And now Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience is ready to rattle Seattle’s WaMu Theater with “Kashmir,” “Stairway to Heaven” and other Zep classics on Saturday night.

Broken Bells, the Black Keys, Sleigh Bells and more headed to Deck the Hall Ball

Seattle rock station KNDD-FM (107.7, The End) has announced the lineup for its annual Deck the Hall Ball concert. Broken Bells, the Black Keys, Jimmy Eat World, Cake, Temper Trap and Sleigh Bells will play the holiday showcase, which is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start on Dec. 8 at Seattle’s WaMu Theater.

Tickets are $44.50 and “Friends of the End” will have access to an exclusive pre-sale beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. Tix go on sale to the general public

Fallen “Idol”: Band featuring Carly Smithson and former members of Evanescence set for Seattle debut (audio)

Showbox at the Market may have “Nudedragons” tonight. But the other Showbox has We Are the Fallen, a band that’s generated a little buzz of its own, based on a lineup that teams “American Idol” alumnus Carly Smithson with Ben Moody, John LeCompt, and Rocky Gray from Evanescence.

The band will play songs from its forthcoming Universal Republic debut “Tear Down the World” during an opening slot for H.I.M. Saturday at Showbox SoDo. And in the days leading up to the show

Honda Civic tour to feature Paramore, Tegan and Sara

Pop-punk sensation Paramore has been tapped to headline the Honda Civic Tour, organizers announced today. Canadian sister duo Tegan and Sara will add support.

Dates weren’t announced, but the tour will kick off on July 23, according to its promo site.

Meanwhile, local fans that can’t wait that long to see Paramore can check the band out on May 12 at Seattle’s WaMu Theater has.

Slayer postpones Seattle and other tour dates

Slayer has postponed all tour dates through April, including a scheduled Jan. 18 stop at Seattle’s WaMu Theater, as bassist and vocalist Tom Araya preps for surgery for his aching back, the band announced today.

“Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot,” band manager Rick Sales said in a statement posted on the band’s web site, “but they just haven’t handled the problem, so he’s biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month.”

Thrash metal icons Slayer and Megadeth will launch a co-headlined North American tour on Jan. 18 at Seattle’s WaMu Theater, the bands announced today. Testament will provide support on what’s been dubbed the American Carnage tour.
