The Decemberists will preview new song on ‘Conan,’ play Seattle in 2011

Portland’s Decemberists are headed back to Seattle early next year. The experimental pop-rock outfit will headline the Paramount Theatre on Feb. 18, 2011, Capitol Records announced.

There’s a party in our city (scenes from Yo Gabba Gabba!)

Hey! Where was the acoustic set? And the encore?

And what? No “Don’t Bite Your Friends” on the set list? Man, I hate when bands get so big they don’t feel “obligated” to play their big hits. And was it just me or did Brobee sound a bit pitchy this afternoon? Well, guess they just fix it up in the studio with a little Auto Tune like everybody else.

But seriously, we’re talking about Nick Jr.‘s hit kids show Yo Gabba Gabba which took over the Tacoma Dome today for two shows. (The second is going on as I post this.) A few thousand little people – many clad in fuzzy Brobee and DJ Lance Rock costumes – were highly entertained at the 2 p.m. show.

Shrewd Ventures emphasizing “Hawaii Five-O” in wake of CBS-TV’s hit reboot

CBS-TV has a big hit with its rehash of “Hawaii Five-O,” the popular cop show that originally starred Jack Lord from 1968 to 1980.

Alex O’Loughlin is at the helm as detective Steve McGarrett in the new version. September’s pilot episode is the most DVR’d program of all time, and the show drew a not-too-shabby 6.9 million viewers last Sunday, according to the latest rankings released by Bloomberg News.

Needless to say, the Ventures will give their version of the show’s iconic theme music a little extra emphasis on Saturday during a rare U.S. performance at the Snoqualmie Casino.

Are you ready for some footbaaaallll … and Tim McGraw?

The NFL regular season officially kicks off at 5:30 p.m. today on NBC with Superbowl champs, the Pittsburgh Steelers, taking on the Tennessee Titans. But before the game football fans get to pre-funk with two of the biggest names in pop music, country star Tim McGraw and hip-poppers Black Eyed Peas.
