New Fun Police, Crooks to Kings on the South Sound Mix Tape

I dropped a few new tracks on the South Sound Mix Tape including a couple from the Fun Police’s brand, spankin’ new disc, “You Better Run” (details here). And right below those is music to break stuff too from local metalcore band Crooks to Kings. You know, Sean, the band’s vocalist, always seems so mellow when I run into him at the New Frontier or Hell’s Kitchen. Talk about Jekyll & Hyde!

And in a loosely related matter, here’s an old video of the Fun Police without their cop get-ups. It’s

New Kristin Connell on the South Sound Mix Tape

I just added a cut from Puyallup singer-songwriter Kristin Connell’s new album “Dance of Love” to the audio player over there on the left. The CD release party is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the forthcoming Speakeasy Arts Cooperative, 746 Broadway, in Tacoma. More on the venue later this week. Meanwhile, you can get all Facebooked with Connell over here.

New music from Bandolier

The other night at the New Frontier, I ran into Bandolier’s Lino Fernandez (also of Dignitaries and Sons of Ivan fame.) And he handed me a copy of his band’s brand, spankin’ new CD, which is self-titled and coming out any day now.

So what did I do? I added a couple of cuts for you to preview on the South Sound Mix Tape, that’s what. So ch-ch-check ‘em out, y’all. And if you like ‘em you can find out more about the band here.

Sons of Ivan on the South Sound Mix Tape

Sure, the Sons of Ivan broke up and all, freeing up Jason Falk to play with Mono in VCF, Mike Krushka to sing with the Legend of Bigfoot and the Fernandez bros (Reylan and Lino) to work on their new garage-rock band, the Dignitaries. But that doesn’t mean we can’t remember this Tacoma band, courtesy of a track I added to the South Sound Mix Tape.

They still maintain a MySpace page where you can hear more here.
