Tre’dmarks Radio to be featured on new Northwest Convergence Zone station

Go Juice Radio and the Northwest Convergence Zone – two of Tacoma’s most popular music podcast sources and the subjects of our cover story in Sunday’s SoundLife section – are joining forces. Go Juice’s Quincy “Q. Dot” Henry has informed us that his Tre’dmarks Radio show will be part the Convergence Zone’s new online station, which is scheduled to launch on Feb. 28.

Northwest Convergence Zone to launch 24-hour online music programming

The Northwest Convergence Zone guys plan to launch a 24-hour online music station later this month. I just got of the phone with co-founder Darrell Fortune, who launched the popular, weekly NWCZ podcast in 2009. And he tells me that his crew will have NWCZradio.com up and running by Feb. 18.

Hear Decemberists live on NPR.org Wednesday

Portland’s Decemberists will perform material from their just released new album, “The King Is Dead,” for National Public Radio’s web site on Wednesday, EMI announced. Fans will be able to hear an hour-long performance and interview session that will be webcast from Portland’s NPR affiliate’s studios at noon, which will be viewable at www.npr.org/music/. For local fans, that will serve as warm-up to the band’s Feb. 18 appearance at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.

Jubal Flagg headed to Movin’ 92.5

Comedian and Seattle radio personality Jubal Flagg is movin’ … to Movin’.

Today, Seattle’s KQMV-FM (Movin’, 92.5) announced that Flagg has defected from KBKS-FM (Kiss, 106.1) – where listeners have heard him on the Jackie and Bender Show for the last 6 ½ years – to co-host their morning drive show with Brooke Fox. Flagg will make his debut on Movin’ around the first of the year, according to this morning’s announcement.

Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss, before she was famous

I couldn’t resist. When I interviewed Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss last week I had to ask about the Nickelodeon Magazine commercial she shot as a kid, way before she was in Pitchfork-approved noise pop duo.

See, she first shows up at the :07 mark in this first clip. Awww! So adorable.

Now compare that to the sassy, bat-wielding vixen from the “Infinity Guitars” clip. (Sigh) they grow up so fast.

Clear Channel’s Monkey 104.9 switches to Gen-X format

You may have noticed something fishy going on if you tuned in to KFNK-FM (Funky Monkey, 104.9) in the last day or so. Hey, where’s all the Godsmack and Sevendust you expected?

Well, what happened is parent company Clear Channel switched formats at noon Wednesday, a decision made over two months based on the Monkey’s sagging ratings, according to Michele Grosenick, the general manager for Clear Channel’s holdings in the Seattle-Tacoma market. The station, which transmits from Eatonville, has been re-branded as Gen-X 104.9.

Broken Bells, the Black Keys, Sleigh Bells and more headed to Deck the Hall Ball

Seattle rock station KNDD-FM (107.7, The End) has announced the lineup for its annual Deck the Hall Ball concert. Broken Bells, the Black Keys, Jimmy Eat World, Cake, Temper Trap and Sleigh Bells will play the holiday showcase, which is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start on Dec. 8 at Seattle’s WaMu Theater.

Tickets are $44.50 and “Friends of the End” will have access to an exclusive pre-sale beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. Tix go on sale to the general public
