Farewell, Sasquatch! 2010

Another Sasquatch! Festival is in the books. Jams were kicked out, crowds were surfed. Furry hats were rocked like no time since Davy Crockett. And while I didn’t catch every band on my agenda this Memorial Day weekend, I did witness several performances I won’t forget any time soon. Here are the five that stand out most:

1. LCD Soundsystem: From the hedonistic refrain of “Drunk Girls” to the flash mob that spread across the hillside during “All My Friends,” this was easily the most festive set I witnessed at Sasquatch! 2010. It was my first time catching band

Favorite albums of ’09, No. 3

Visqueen, “Message to Garcia”

What a big year for band leader Rachel Flotard. Her band successfully launched its own label to release the most catchy, soulful pop-punk album of the year. Sorry, Green Day. And on top of all that, Flotard hit the talk show circuit with homie Neko Case, having sung backup on her commercial breakthrough “Middle Cyclone.”

Neko Case sings about boogers (no, really)

When heard in conjunction, the words “Christmas” and “album” make my eyes glaze over like a double shot of Nyquil. But since I’m a fan of Cartoon Network’s “Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” I was actually interested in hearing that show’s new holiday disc, “Have Yourself a Meaty Little Christmas,” even before I scanned a track listing that includes “I Sure Hope I Don’t Have to Beat Your A– This Christmas” and “Santa Left a Booger in My Stocking.”
