More acts headed to new Rhythm & Brews

It appears Gary Grape of the South Sound Blues Association will handle most of the booking down at the new Rhythm & Brews club downtown, which tells you what the musical focus will be. Hey, can’t make any assumptions just based on the name (see also: Jazzbones and Sax.) And along with this weekend’s grand opening festivities, here are a few more shows Grape has lined up for this month.

7th annual Tacoma Jazz & Blues Festival on for May 29

The 7th annual Tacoma Jazz and Blues Festival will be held May 29 at Tacoma’s Freighthouse Square, the Harmon Pub & Brewery and Stonegate Pizza, organizers announced Wednesday. The schedule is as follows:

Big bands jazz stage at Freighthouse Square’s Rainier Room
Johnny Lewis Big Band (1 p.m.)
Roadside Attraction (2:30 p.m.)
Mukilteo’s Outrageous Jazz Orchestra (4 p.m.)
Rich Wetzel’s Groovin Higher Jazz Orchestra (5:30 p.m.)
