Arcade Fire tour headed to KeyArena

Arcade Fire will headline Seattle’s KeyArena on Sept. 29, the band announced. The Montreal, Canada-based troupe recently released its third album, “The Suburbs,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Here is the rest of the tour itinerary.

Gorillaz headed to Seattle

Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz will headline KeyArena on Nov. 2, the virtual pop band has announced. Based on a promotional video the band released on the Escape to Plastic Beach tour, the live show will feature Gorillaz collaborators Bobby Womack, Mos Def, De la Soul and Little Dragon, among others, along with video appearances by the likes of Snoop Dogg. But expect Jamie Hewlett’s band avatars Murdoc, Noodle, 2D, Russel and Android Noodle to show up in some form or other.

Tool rocks, inspires with psychedelic set in Seattle

Tool is one of the strangest, most inspiring anomalies in pop music today. The “thinking man’s metal band,” as they’re called, crafts songs that are brazenly weird, cerebral and arty. They eschew trends, instead packing albums with sprawling prog-rock epics that have more in common with Rush and King Crimson than anything trendy on top 40 radio today. And they take their own sweet time between albums, having produced just four proper full-lengths in 18 years.

Yet, in the fickle world of pop, they’ve remained staples of MTV and mainstream radio since grunge was king. Hey, how’d that happen? And based on Saturday night’s appearance at KeyArena, Tool may be more respected and relevant than ever.

Tool headed to KeyArena in July

Grammy Award winning prog-rockers Tool will headline KeyArena on July 10, Seattle Center announced today. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. on Friday. Prices have not yet been made available.

Tool – best known for hits “Sober,” “Prison Sex” and “Schism,” among other hits – has been on hiatus since their last album “10,000 Days” was released in 2006. But the band has regrouped to work on a new material, with a new disc rumored to be coming out in late 2010 or early 2011.

Details for Bret Michaels, Summer Meltdown and more

You may have noticed things slowing down to a snail’s pace on the ol’ TRC blog the last week and a half. And no, I wasn’t just being a slacker. I was actually taking a few days off. And a lot happened while I was M.I.A. For starters …

Tonight’s Eagles concert postponed

Due to an illness of Eagles bassist/vocalist Timothy B. Schmit, tonight’s Eagles concert at KeyArena has been postponed until May 26, KeyArena announced this afternoon.

Fans should keep their tickets; they will be honored at the rescheduled concert.

American Idols Live headed to KeyArena

The Top 10 “American Idol” finalists – Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, and Tim Urban – will headline Seattle’s KeyArena on Aug. 20, Seattle Center announced today.

Tickets will go on sale Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10 am.

Alice in Chains teams up with Mastodon, Deftones for big arena tour

Alice in Chains has warmed up with a bunch of theater dates since releasing comeback album “Black Gives Way to Blue” last year. And now the resurgent grunge-metal heroes have announced plans to take it up several notches with its Black Diamond Skye tour, which will bring take over Seattle’s KeyArena on Oct. 8.

A in C has tapped Mastodon and Deftones for support, with other regional dates at Vancouver, BC’s General Motors Place on Oct. 7 and Portland’s Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 9.
