Spoon interview (audio)

Spoon’s “Transference” is my favorite rock album of 2010 so far, so it goes without saying that I’m stoked to be checking out the first half of the band’s two-night stand in Seattle in a few hours at the Moore Theatre.

And finally I’ve had time to post a few clips from my interview with bassist Rob Pope who last month talked about …

… living in Seattle and the Austin-bred band’s Northwest ties.

… how he joined Spoon after Get Up Kids.

… Spoon’s gradual rise and

The Sonics nearly done with four new songs, iconic singer says (audio)

A year ago Saturday, Tacoma garage-rock legends, The Sonics, showed us they still had it with a fierce, swaggering set at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre, their first local performance since the Nixon administration.

And as this Halloween approaches there’s more Sonics news that’s so good it’s scary. Lead howler Jerry Roslie tells me his band is close to finishing four new songs with Seattle super-producer Jack Endino.

Brandi Carlile talks “Give Up the Ghost,” smiling Dobermans (audio)

Maple Valley’s Brandi Carlile delivered my favorite performance of 2008, a breathtaking set with Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall last November. So if you’re like me you’re stoked to see her again Saturday (Oct. 24) at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.

Some of you may have already checked out a related sound bite I posted from my interview with Brandi talking about Elton John and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith appearing on her new “Give Up the Ghost” album. Click the link if you haven’t, or check out these new clips with her talking
