Go Juice Radio and the Northwest Convergence Zone – two of Tacoma’s most popular music podcast sources and the subjects of our cover story in Sunday’s SoundLife section – are joining forces. Go Juice’s Quincy “Q. Dot” Henry has informed us that his Tre’dmarks Radio show will be part the Convergence Zone’s new online station, which is scheduled to launch on Feb. 28.

You can currently hear Tre’dmarks Radio – co-hosted by Henry and Maurice “Tha Bizni$ Man” Thornton – at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at GoJuiceRadio.com. But beginning March 4 you’ll also be

Revengers, Bloodhunger and Swampy Draws lineup changes

A few popular Tacoma bands will look a little different in the near future. For starters, Revengers will play their last show with vocalist Eric Quinn on Friday night at the New Frontier before the Mighty Quinn heads off to law school in Michigan. I ran into Revengers beatmeister Jeff Berghammer this morning when he was getting some coffee, and he said he and his mates are contemplating going on with a new singer. But can they find one that emotes quite like Eric? Methinks no.

Hip-Hop for the Holidays headed to the new Firwood Rock Lounge downtown

Just got a call from FYR Entertainment about their Thanksgiving pre-funk show, Hip-Hop for the Holidays, which will bring Tacoma rapper Roderic and Clemm Rashad to the new Firwood Rock Lounge next Wednesday. The show will start at 9 p.m., and if nothing else I’m curious to see someone performing on that elevated stage they have overlooking the dance floor over there. More details on the venue here.

Inaugural ‘Nesian Fest slated for Saturday

Local hip-hop and R&B group Island Trybe is trying to end a sad year on a positive note beginning with ‘Nesian Fest, which starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hell’s Kitchen.

Island Trybe organized the event with Aomas Entertainment as a showcase of Pacific Islanders active in the local hip, R&B and reggae scenes. As Island Trybe manager Sean Lizama explained, “’Nesian” is just shorthand for some of the regions local Islanders hail from – Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia.

Kid Rock set list

For Kids about to rock … we salute you. (Photo by Ernest Jasmin)

At some point during Kid Rock’s return to the Puyallup Fair Sunday night it struck me just how artificial a lot of what you hear on top 40 radio is these days. It was right around the time that Kid – a guy who’s spent the latter part of his career lifting riffs from Metallica, Warren Zevon and ZZ Top – bragged about how authentic his band was because, you know, they play instruments and stuff. Oooooh, ahhhhh.

Video interview with Georgia Anne Muldrow & Declaime (a.k.a. Dudley Perkins)

I’ve followed singer/rapper Georgia Anne Muldrow for a couple of years and, like Mos Def, I’m smitten with her uplifting neo-soul ballad “Roses” (a cut Mos remade for his his last album, “The Ecstatic.”)

I was looking forward to her set Sunday with Declaime (a.k.a. rapper Dudley Perkins) more than just about any other act at Bumbershoot. And I even got to hang out for a minute. In the interview clip below, the couple talks about their heartfelt brand of hip-hop and why they rebel against trends that land other artists
