Dierks Bentley explains why he went bluegrass on “Up On the Ridge” (audio)

Dierks Bentley will be the main attraction Saturday night at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center grandstand. You can expect some “What Was I Thinkin’,” some “Sideways” and maybe some “Feel That Fire” on the set list. Video of Dierks Bentley with Tim O’Brien

Was going back through my Dierks Bentley interview audio, and he mentions this appearance with bluegrass legend Tim O’Brien – this being the cover of Dylan’s “Senor (Tales of Yankee Power)” as remade on for Bentley’s “Up On the Ridge” CD. New bluegrass night on South Tacoma Way

Wintergrass may have gone bye-bye, but I just learned about a new bluegrass night over on South Tacoma Way that may help ease the sting. It kicks off at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Golden West Restaurant & Lounge, 5228 South Tacoma Way, and it’s headlined by local country vet Shotgun Red, a guy who used to play with country legend Buck Owens, back when he kicked it in Tacoma in the ’50s.
