We now have a better idea of the bands general manager Joy Hutt plans to bring to the forthcoming Backstage Bar & Grill, which is under construction at 6409 Sixth Ave., in Tacoma, formerly home base for the short-lived Game On Sports Grille.
Hutt – a staple of Tacoma’s rock scene who previously ran the Olde Shipwreck and the Catbox – said she and owner Stephen Tippins are still aiming for a Feb. 1 opening. She confirmed Cali punk vets Agent Orange as headlining on March 19 and said she is also working on March dates with Lynch Mob, all-star tribute band Hollywood Allstars and a little group that helped spark the whole grunge thing back in the ‘80s.
“I want to bring in Malfunkshun, Andrew Wood’s first band,” Hutt said. “I want to do a lot of Seattle music.”
Hutt is also looking for local bands to book. They can contact her through the venue’s Facebook page or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
