Fleet Foxes, Devo headed to Moore Theatre

Seattle’s Fleet Foxes will headline Seattle’s Moore Theatre on May 3, STG Presents announced. That’s the same day the critically acclaimed alt-country band’s sophomore album “Helplessness Blues” is scheduled to hit record stores. Tickets for that show are $33 and Tickets.com will sell them beginning 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4.

STG Presents also announced the on-sale date for post-punk legends Devo’s March 15 date at the Moore. Tickets are $38 to $100, and they’ll go on sale through Tickets.com starting 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5.

The Kingsmen’s Dick Peterson talks “Louie Louie”

They had other hits. But one song more than any other is guaranteed to be on the Kingsmen’s set list Saturday night at Centralia College’s Corbet Theatre.

You know the one. Richard Berry wrote it. Tacoma’s Fabulous Wailers and Lawrence “Rockin’ Robin” Roberts turned it into the party anthem we all know and love. It was a mandatory cover for just about every garage-rocker we associate with the Original Northwest Sound.

Sasquatch 2011 acts to be revealed at Feb. 6 launch party

Live Nation tells us we’ll learn who’s playing Sasquatch 2011 on Feb. 6. A festival launch party will be held at 8 p.m. that day with performances by the Thermals (recent TRC interview clips here), Das Racist andMad Rad. Comedian Todd Barry, who appeared at last year’s festival, will host the event.

The Thermals interview (audio)

Portland’s popular punk trio, the Thermals, is headed north for a pair of big shows at Seattle’s Neumo’s (Friday) and the Northern in Oly. That second one will be open to all ages on Sunday.

Hear Decemberists live on NPR.org Wednesday

Portland’s Decemberists will perform material from their just released new album, “The King Is Dead,” for National Public Radio’s web site on Wednesday, EMI announced. Fans will be able to hear an hour-long performance and interview session that will be webcast from Portland’s NPR affiliate’s studios at noon, which will be viewable at www.npr.org/music/. For local fans, that will serve as warm-up to the band’s Feb. 18 appearance at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre.

Rush bringing “Moving Pictures” back this summer

Rush will bring their Time Machine Tour back to Washington this summer. The Canadian prog-rock kings will headline the Gorge Amphitheatre in George on July 2, Live Nation announced today. Tickets will go for $45 to $110, and Live Nation and Ticketmaster will have them on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on Jan. 31.

The Time Machine Tour – which features Rush playing it’s classic album “Moving Pictures” in its entirety – stopped at Auburn’s White River Amphitheatre last August, and you can find our coverage here.
