Fife’s Cedarwood Dome has gone dark. The following message was posted on the venue’s web site.

Sorry to say the last night for the Cedarwood Dome was Monday November 15, 2010. (There was No Place Like Dome!) We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for your patronage and support over the last four years! You have made this an unforgettable experience for us all. You will be in our memories forever. It was a GREAT PARTY!!!

“It was a combination of the economy, and there were some issues with the land and the building, and I didn’t want to put any more money into it,” manager Ron Buckholz elaborated. “It’s been four years of hard work and not a whole lot of money.”

Buckholz speculated that the igloo-shaped building might not stay unoccupied for long. “There were guys looking at it today, so I don’t know that it won’t open right back up,” he said. “It’s a great venue.”

Local promoter Tami Croft e-mailed this week to let me know that singer-songwriter Michael J. Harris’ Dec. 18 show has been moved to the recently opened Firwood Rock Lounge, 734 Pacific Ave., in Tacoma.

“The Firwood Rock Lounge … took all the acts that were going to be a Cedarwood,” she wrote. “It is a great new venue and should be a lot of fun.”
