Portland’s Decemberists are headed back to Seattle early next year. The experimental pop-rock outfit will headline the Paramount Theatre on Feb. 18, 2011, Capitol Records announced.
The band will tour in support of new album “The King Is Dead,” which will hit stores on Jan. 18. Tickets for the Seattle show will cost $32 in advance, $35 the day of the show and be available to the general public beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday. Find more show details on the STG Presents site.
But before that fans can catch the Decemberists in action on the tube. The band will be joined by Gillian Welch when they perform new single “Down by the Water” on TBS-TV’s “Conan” on Thursday. The single will be released digitally on Tuesday.
The new album is produced by Tucker Martine and features cameos from Welch and R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. According to today’s announcement, it’s a return to a more simple, pastoral sound following its wildly ambitious predecessor, “The Hazards of Love.” Fans will be able to order the new album on the Decemberists’ web site beginning Nov. 22.
