Yesterday, speculation that Pearl Jam would be taking an unusually long break – or even hanging it up for good – ran rampant. That was after front man Eddie Vedder’s announcement that the band was going on hiatus during a show in Portugal. But band publicist Nicole Vandenburg dropped me a line to reassure that nothing unusual was going on. And it seems Vedder’s wording – as he addressed the crowd in Portuguese – had something to do with how people read into what he said.
(It’s) nothing serious. He says that at the end of all tours, meaning that the tour is over. I think the remarks got a bit lost in translation.
