Eww! Taylor Swift is hitting some seriously sour notes there. And whose idea was it to pair her with Stevie Nicks? Not as awful as last year’s Stevie Wonder/Jonas Brothers abomination, but it’s in the same area code. Just sayin’.

[Update: Rolling Stone has a piece on Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta defending Swift's off key performance here.]

The show bounces back with a classy Michael Jackson tribute, with Celine, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Ne-Yo, Jennifer Hudson and the great Smokey Robinson delivering Jackson’s powerful “Earth Song” – in 3D, no less. (I knew I hung onto those “Avatar” specs for a reason.) And if the song wasn’t enough to move you, how about Prince and Paris Jackson’s acceptance speeches.

Robinson will be at the Emerald Queen on Valentine’s Day and Carrie Underwood will be at Comcast Arena on May 29.
