You could say there were a few snags at the Stonegate’s grand opening last night over on South Tacoma Way; for starters, no booze and an inexperienced sound guy annoying the bejeezus out of the Fabulous Wailers as they unveiled their new album “Rooster Rock” (more on that in the next day or two.)
The lady who brought my first soda even said she’d showed up to watch the grand opening only to be hired on as a waitress.
Well, owner Jeff Call hopes things run a bit more smoothly next week when they hit the grand opening reset button. For starters, Call had expected to have his liquor license in time for the Wailers show and is hopeful that it will come through by next weekend.
Call also took me on a quick tour of the premises, located at 5419 South Tacoma Way. The Stonegate features a cavernous whiskey lounge, which Call is putting the finishing touches on, and a smaller showroom upstairs. And the owner detailed an intriguing pizza menu he said will include such exotic options as chicken pad tai and lobster tail pizza.
