Friday night’s Loaded show at Hell’s Kitchen is this week’s hot ticket, Loaded being Duff McKagan of Velvet Revlover and Guns N’ Roses fame’s band from college.
The show is a cancer benefit for Jerry Allen, a friend of Loaded drummer Geoff Reading, a local guy who has also played with Top Heavy Crush and American Shame. And this one-off show was also a good excuse to check in with McKagan (a Seattle boy, in case you didn’t know)and chew the fat.
Here are a few sound clips from last Friday’s conversation:
* We started with Friday’s cause.
* Descriptions of Loaded turned into talk about his roots in the Seattle punk scene.
* McKagan was actually calling from LA studio where supergroup Velvet Revolver (also ex-Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland and Slash and Matt Sorum from the real GNR) is working on its sophomore album (working title "Libertad," due next spring.) He gave up a few intriguing details.
* Guns N’ Roses? Velvet Revolver? Loaded? What’s up with all the gun names? In this last clip, the conversation goes from that topic (and it’s not that kind of "loaded," as it turns out) to reflections on GNR.
And if you haven’t heard what killed the latest “Guns N’ Roses” tour with Axl Rose’s new lineup (it wasn’t riots this time) you should check out the erratic front man’s open letter.
