Company recalls brand of hummus sold at northwest QFC stores

Penny’s Salsa has issued a recall for some types of hummus sold at QFC stores in Western Washington and Portland that may contain a bacterium called Listeria Monocytogenes, according to QFC.

According to the grocery store chain, Penny’s Salsa voluntary recalled its pico de gallo hummus, roasted red pepper hummus, garlic hummus and original hummus with use by dates of July 13 through Aug. 25.

The bacterium can cause an infection called Listeriosis, which can include fever and muscle aches, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Some Fred Meyer, QFC baked goods recalled from Northwest stores

Some baked goods sold at Northwest Fred Meyer and QFC stores were recalled today, after officials said they may contain pieces of plastic.

The items were baked at a facility in Clackamas, Ore., according to Fred Meyer.

No customers have reported pieces of plastic, officials said.

The products were delivered between Friday and Sunday to Fred Meyer stores in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, and QFC stores in Washington and Oregon.

Affected products were pulled from store shelves. Recalled items can be returned to the stores for refund or exchange.
