Eleven apply for Puyallup council vacancy
A total of 11 people have applied to fill the vacant Puyallup City Council position formerly occupied by Puyallup Councilman George Dill, who died in November shortly after winning re-election.
The candidates include Tony Aho, who faced Dill in November’s election and lost by 7 percentage points; and Valerie Offenbecher, who previously served on the council from January 2004 to December 2007
The full list of applicants, in alphabetical order, is as follows:
-Tony Aho, an admissions official at Pacific Lutheran University;
-Dan Cardwell, a planner for Pierce County;
-David Couch, a teacher;
-Ron Crowe, an insurance office owner;
-Kathy Ferris, a veterinarian;
-William Hilton, a Washington State Patrol captain;
-Robert Lord, a retiree;
-Nicole Martineau, a paraeducator;
-Valerie Offenbecher, an office administrator and former councilwoman;
-Lewis Pugh, Jr., a retiree;
-Tom Smillie, who is retired on disability.
