The Fife City Council, after much discussion at its regular meeting Tuesday night, recommended that staff move forward with a lodging tax application to possibly fund a feasibility study for a proposed sports complex.

The next step comes after the California-based company Sportsplex USA released its preliminary report on the market demand for a multi-use facility, which could include several softball and soccer fields and an on-site restaurant for national and international events.

Former Fife City Councilwoman Kim Roscoe appointed to fill vacant position

Kim Roscoe, a former Fife City Council member, was chosen last week to fill a vacant City Council position.

The council voted 6-0 to appoint Roscoe to finish the term of the late Richard Godwin, a councilman who died in February at age 68. Godwin served since 2003.

Michael Wilkins also applied to fill the position.

Roscoe previously served two four-year terms on the council from January 2002 through December 2009. She has lived in the city for about 15 years.

A city official said Roscoe doesn’t intend to run for the position in the fall.
