Eatonville School District completes active shooter drill after nine months of violence response training

Hundreds of emergency responders, students and school officials in Eatonville participated in an active shooter drill coordinated by Pierce County Emergency Management and hosted by the Eatonville School District that took over two schools and several blocks in the Mount Rainier foothills community.

The event, which included 17 responding agencies from Pierce, King and Snohomish counties, was the culmination of about nine months of emergency response planning that was meant to prepare students, school officials and emergency responders for a large scale school shooting.

Eatonville School Board selects Tacoma schools administrator as new district superintendent

An administrator with Tacoma Public Schools was selected this week to replace the outgoing Eatonville School District Superintendent.

Krestin Bahr, the middle school director for Tacoma schools, was chosen to replace Rich Stewart, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Bahr will take over July 1.

Bahr is the first female superintendent for the school district in Eatonville, and has lived in the Mount Rainier foothills community for about nine years.
