The city of Fife will host a ribbon cutting for the grand reopening of 70th Avenue East, according to a city news release.

The $15 million project was a collaboration between local, state and federal governments.

The road is a major arterial that connects “transportation dependent” businesses along the Interstate 5 corridor, according to the release.

“This achievement is a key link in the regional transportation system that passes through Fife, and sets us up for the future connection of SR 167,” said City Manager Dave Zabell in the release.

State Sen. Bruce Dammeier, Rep. Hans Zeiger and Pierce County Council member Joyce McDonald will attend the ceremony, as well as Fife officials. It is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 19.
