Great news for East Pierce County berry lovers — strawberries are back.

Spooner Farms announced in a Facebook post on Thursday that its strawberry season begins Friday, June 7.

The post indicated the main farm location and the berry stand on East Main in Puyallup both will be open Friday.

Manager Sam Spooner said the season is starting slightly early this year, due to early warm weather. He said the season usually begins around mid-June in an average year.

“It varies year to year,” Spooner said. “We had an early hot streak that started the berries in bloom.”

Spooner Farms is located at 9622 state Route 162 East in Puyallup. For more information on the farm and its berry stands, visit them on Facebook or at spoonerberries.com.
