The Fife-Milton-Edgewood Chamber of Commerce is hosting an informative luncheon about the state Route 167 project, according to a chamber press release.

The luncheon is at the Emerald Queen Casino 1-5 Bridge Nightclub on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. It will provide attendees who, what and why information related to the project, according to the release.

A coalition of business leaders and government officials have been pushing for state funding to connect state Route 167 with Interstate 5, one of many transportation issues that are on hold pending a special legislative session.

Let’s hope they discuss the widening and at least adding a HOV lane between Auburn and Sumner/Puyallup. All the extra truck traffic will cause even more gridlock in the future. Building a decent interchange between SR18 and SR167 would be a good start instead of having to travel on West Valley Highway.
