Turn on the water!

Just in time for what promises to be a hot, sunny weekend, Metro Parks Tacoma is set to open its spraygrounds Saturday at nine different parks across Tacoma.sprayground1

The park district’s spraygrounds — aquatic playgrounds that offer park patrons a fun respite from the heat — will open at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Park, Kandle Park, McKinley Playfield, Norpoint Park, South Park, Wapato Hills Park, Wright Park and two new park locations this year — Franklin and Titlow Parks.

Metro Parks’ spraygrounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends only from May 4 through May 27.  Then, beginning May 28 and running through Sept. 2, they’ll be open daily, with the same hours of operation. As the summer winds down, they’ll shift back to weekend-only hours, from Sept. 3 – Sept. 27.

There is no fee to use any of the parks’ spraygrounds.

For more information, check out MPT’s sprayground page here.

Headline says 8 spraygrounds, story lists only 6. I believe Kandle and Wright Park spraygrounds also open this Saturday.
