The Washington State Fair continues its rebranding efforts, and will begin the dismantling of one of its iconic symbols at the Gold Gate.
Organizers plan to take down the cow head on the north side of the “cube” on Monday, the first stage in removing the canopy and ticket booths that have long carried the name “The Puyallup Fair,” according to a fair press release.
Removal of the fixture will open up the northeast entrance of the facility, according to the release.
The “cube” has long been considered the main entrance to the annual fair, which announced last year that it is transitioning from its well-known moniker to the Washington State Fair. It is one of the many physical transitions organizers are taking to enhance the fairgrounds as the name changes, according to the release.
