The Milroy Bridge at 66th Avenue East and River Road will close for inspection from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, so crews can perform structural inspection and maintenance, according to a news release from Pierce County Public Works and Utilities.

The bridge, which crosses the Puyallup River, is inspected every other year as part of Pierce County’s bridge inspection program. Crews from Pierce County Public Works and the state Department of Transportation will inspect the structure’s condition for current and future maintenance needs, which requires special equipment that forces the road closure, according to the release.

The Milroy Bridge connects state Route 167 and North Levee Road East at 66th Avenue East. Built in 1931, the bridge is traveled by about 10,500 vehicles per day.
