A Pierce County Council committee today moved forward a proposal requiring foreclosed homes to be registered and abandoned properties to be maintained.

Owners who fail to register and maintain their vacant properties could face enforcement steps, including penalties, according to the proposed resolution.

The council’s Economic and Infrastructure Development Committee voted 5-0 to recommend the proposal. The County Council is expected to vote on the resolution March 26.
