The Puyallup School Board has adopted key dates for its calendar for the 2013-14 school year, following a decision to eliminate half-day Wednesdays to increase  instructional time for students.

Two potential waiver days have been submitted to the State Board of Education for approval. Waiver days are days off for students, and work days for teachers. If approved, those non-school waiver days will be announced this spring.

Additionally, there will be some half-days of school scheduled for all grade levels throughout the 2013-14 school year for staff training and parent-student conferences. These half days will be reflected on the school calendars released this spring.

Beginning in fall 2013, the Puyallup School District will no longer schedule early school dismissal or late arrival on Wednesdays. Rather, all schools will start one hour later each Monday that school is in session.

The following are important dates approved by the school board for the school year that begins this fall:

First Day of School: September 4, 2013
