The third annual activist training session hosted by the League of Education Voters will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, January 12 at Highline Community College in Des Moines.
An estimated 200 people from across the state are expected to attend.
Workshop topics will include early learning, equitable school funding, and commonsense school discipline. The training will also include a science fair-style showcase of successful school programs and a wine reception with community partners.
The cost is $25; lunch is included.
Attendees will hear from elected officials, community leaders, and parents who will explain the importance of being an education activist and how to have your voice heard during the 2013 state legislative session.
