The campaign for a $500 million school bond that would finance 14 new or remodeled schools in Tacoma, along with other improvements throughout the school district, will host its kick-off event next month.

The “Renew Our Commitment – Yes on Prop 1” committee will host the event at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 5 at the Metro Parks STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma.

Kids and families are welcome to attend. The event will include free coffee and snacks, and yard signs will be available.

Not a chance in he– that anyone with any intellect will vote Yes for this!

  2. Taxes will actually go down in the short term if this passes, because the district will be able to refinance some existing short term levy debt into longer term bond financing. In the long term, we’ll be getting a tremendous deal on the next 20 years of school building funding. Interest rates and construction costs are currently at historic lows.
