I just talked to Daniella-Marie Hulett, a resident and employee in downtown Tacoma.

She’s planning a get-together at the downtown Tully’s, on the corner of South 9th Street and Broadway, at 3 p.m. on Sunday to figure out how to support the children and families in Newtown, Conn., in light of the shooting there today.

Her remarks reflect what many of us feel: a deep desire to help and willingness to figure out the best way to do that.

She thought of gathering donations of toys and stuffed animals — comfort items for the children.

“Of course if the need is financial, that’s where I’d put my attention to,” she said. “I’m sure funerals aren’t planned for.”

Hulett invites anyone who wants to help to meet her Sunday.
