Bethel School Board seeks input on school attendance boundaries

The Bethel School Board will hold a public hearing Tuesday Dec 11 on a proposal to change attendance boundaries for secondary schools in the Bethel School District. The meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the district office, 516 176th St. East, Spanaway.

Copies of the revised boundary maps are available on the district Web site, www.bethelsd.org.

District goals include a desire to even out school enrollment over the next five years, minimize the need to split neighborhoods between schools and maintain bus route safety. The new boundaries are needed due to population growth and changes in grade configurations, district officials say. This year, Bethel switched from a junior high to a middle schools system.

Changes in school attendance boundaries would take effect at the start of the 2013-14 school year.
