Tacoma author and teacher Darrell Hamlin will sign copies of his book, “North Star Platoon,” at King’s Books, 218 St. Helens St., Tacoma, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Hamlin, who spent more than two decades working at Remann Hall and other programs for juveniles involved in the court system, writes about his experience taking these students outside the classroom and into the outdoors, where he teaches them to navigate by the stars. His goal is to also help them regain their bearings in other aspects of life.
