Gifted education expert Jim Webb will speak at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center at 7 p.m. Thursday Oct. 18.
Webb, a psychologist who has written move than 70 professional publications on the topic of gifted and talented children, comes to Tacoma courtesy of Seabury School, a Tacoma private school that offers education for intellectually advanced students.
Webb’s talk, titled “Being Bright is Not Enough,” will focus on the misperception that because gifted kids are smart, they don’t need extra support from adults. Webb is the founder of the organization Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted.
His talk will offer concrete suggestions for parents and teachers and will help them re-think their perspectives on gifted’ kids behavior.
Pre-registration for the event is encouraged. You can reserve a spot by e-mailing Karen Perry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
