A Puyallup area attorney and judge pro tem has been picked to replace retiring Puyallup Municipal Court Judge Stephen Shelton.

The Puyallup City Council will consider confirming Andrea Beall at a council meeting tonight. A committee consisting of Mayor Rick Hansen and council members John Knutsen and Kent Boyle picked her from among three finalists. A total of 14 people applied.

Beall has been a judge pro tem for several South Sound cities, including Puyallup; she’ll be Puyallup Municipal Court’s first presiding female judge, a city news release said.

She’s a graduate of Seattle University’s law school and is a partner in the law firm Stewart Beall MacNichols & Harmell, the news release said.

Shelton’s last day is Oct. 31.

Of all the judicial officers I’ve come across in the past twenty years of studying judicial officers in Pierce Co. I would have to say Stephen Shelton is what a judge should and is required to be. And he is the only one.
