Peninsula School Board president resigns

Citing a need to move out of state temporarily, Peninsula School Board President Jill Uddenberg has announced her resignation from the board.

In her resignation letter, Uddenberg said she planned to relocate for about a year, but that she hopes to return and become active in the Gig Harbor-area school district again.

“The reason for my resignation is due solely to a short-term relocation out of state,” Uddenberg stated in her letter. She has been a member of the board for seven years and was last elected in 2011 for a term set to expire in 2015.

The school board will take official action on Uddenberg’s resignation at its Oct. 11 meeting. The district will solicit letters of intent from residents who are interested in filling the unexpired term representing District 4.

A map of the District 4 boundaries is available at the district’s website:

Uddenberg is doing the right thing and hopefully other Board members and the acting Supt. will follow her lead. She was caught approving a wrist slap for a teacher who will likely be charged with a crime. And there are many that think she conspired with others to cover up the incident so to protect the levy from failing.

Taxpayers and voters deserve better from the Board members and the Superintendent at the Peninsula School District.

Hopefully the District will take this opportunity to bring in a reform minded member of the community to fill in for the remainder of Uddenberg’s term.
