Pierce County will hold a meeting Thursday, June 14, in Steilacoom so residents  can learn more about proposed changes for the ferry.

Among the improvements, the county wants to add a ticket booth between loading lanes. It also wants to provide more room for waiting vehicles by temporarily closing Lafayette Street west of Union Avenue, adding about 12 more spaces, said Deb Wallace, the county’s airport and ferry manager.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in Steilacoom Town Hall, 1717 Lafayette St.

The proposed changes will be discussed on Anderson Island at the community’s advisory board meeting at 7 p.m. on July 13. That meeting will be held in the Anderson Island Community Clubhouse, 11319 Yoman Road.

The meeting comes as the county recently celebrated the opening of its remodeled ferry terminal.
