A butterfly release this weekend will remember babies who have died of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and offer families a chance to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

The event is sponsored by Northwest Infant Survival & SIDS Alliance.

The event starts at 4 p.m. Saturday (May 12) at the field at St. Charles Borromeo Church and School, 7112 S. 12th St., Tacoma.

There will be a welcome and a poetry reading. Each family will be able to speak about their baby or experience, and will also be able to release a butterfly in their child’s memory.

The public is welcome to attend and participate.
