The state Department of Health took the following actions regarding Pierce County health care providers, according to a news release.
According to the release:
The Nursing Commission in March charged registered nurse Andrea M. McGonigle with unprofessional conduct. She allegedly failed to follow protocol when administering medications to patients, and failed to check a patient for an allergic reaction to a medication.
The Massage Program in March granted the application of Gillian Doreen Meyer and placed conditions against her license. She was found guilty of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
The Nursing Assistant Program in March denied the application of registered nursing assistant applicant Karen D. Slife. She was convicted of criminal solicitation of a controlled substance and of violating a no-contact order. She also entered into an order of continuance for domestic violence – assault. An Adult Protective Services Outcome Report found that she financially exploited a vulnerable adult. She failed to disclose the convictions on her application.
The Health Care Assistant Program in April granted the application of Jennifer Dawn Woolery and placed her license on probation for one year. She was convicted of driving under the influence twice.

I must say, this is a pretty tactless article. There are many providers in washington state that get charged with negligence and so forth… as well as many applicants that get their applications denied or put on probation because of specific criminal counts. I dont understand why these 4 people were written about and not all of the other Washington state health care providers. It’s unfortunate that they committed these acts, but still, to just take these 4 from pierce county and not the rest, kinda lame.
