Bates Technical College Foundation will host a fundraiser, Bates Sizzles, from 5:30 to 9 p.m Thursday, April 19, at the Pacific Grill Events Center, 1530 Pacific Ave.,  Tacoma.

Chef Gordon Naccarato will showcase Pacific Grill’s appetizers, including cheeseburger sliders, “meat candy,” and an elegant signature cocktail. There will also be a silent auction and a wine ring toss that features a chance to win bottles of wine.

Funds raised assist  students and programs with scholarships, mini-grants and more. At Bates, all students are eligible to apply for the foundation’s general scholarships, and others who fit certain criteria can apply for a variety of program-specific scholarships

Tickets to Bates Sizzles are $60 each, or two for $100. Call 253.680.7160 or visit http://www.bates.ctc.edu/Sizzles to reserve tickets and learn more about the event.

That is an expensive fundraiser. I like to see this business owner getting business, but when you track where the funds go to municipalities or schools, it gets scary the deeper you dig. It better make it directly back to the students.
