Low-income wage earners have a tax-time friend in Pierce County Asset Building Coalition. It is offering those people free tax preparation help at 25 sites in Pierce County.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites save people the money they might spend on private tax help. Their preparers are familiar with the tax codes and can help people access any deductions for which they qualify.
The Asset Building Coalition has 40 member agencies and is a program of Associated Ministries, which has posted the hours and locations of the sites.
Users can also call the United Way Helpline at 211 to find a convenient site.
