James Sales Elementary School in the Franklin Pierce School District is being recognized today by TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres as an “amazing school.”

The recognition reportedly comes with a $100,000 grant from the show and Target Corp.

The show airs today at 4 p.m. on KING-TV (Channel 5). Here’s what DeGeneres has posted on her website:

  1. It was a fun school in 1964. I got a swat for running down
the hall after taking back a TV to storage. Mr. Catt our
principal did the honors. I deserved it and I learned a lot
    in that local school.

  2. Wow – what a great story! Thank you teachers and staff for making James Sales a special place, and for educating and mentoring these students. Franklin Pierce has something special going on.

  3. Congratulations to the entire school staff and community. A special thank you to Kristen Schroeder, principal and Liz Chick, after school Power Club coordinator. The after school program is critical to children’s success. As a member of the community we are proud of you and the entire Franklin Pierce School District!!
