Pacific Lutheran University’s student MediaLab has been nominated for a 2011 Emmy award for the documentary “Oil Literacy.”
The film, which premiered in October in Seattle, explores the roles of governments, consumers, oil companies and others in the oil industry. Students Lorna Rodriguez, Kari Plog and Elizabeth Herzfeldt-Kamprath produced the film, while MediaLab faculty adviser Robert Marshall Wells served as the project’s executive producer.
MediaLab partnered with earth science graduate students and faculty at the University of Calgary in Alberta to produce the documentary. The team spent more than a year conducting research and traveling all over North America.
The Emmy nomination is in the college division, as part of the College Television Awards (CTA) competition.
