Unity in the Community

On a hot summer weekend, the Puyallup Tribe will bring the cool to Portland Avenue Park Saturday with its Unity in the Community Kick-off.

The tribe’s Community Alliance Committee is sponsoring the free celebration from 3 to 8 p.m. July 10 at the park, and welcoming all comers.

They’ll fill the day with cultural activities and fun, from bounce houses to language bingo, face-painting, clowns, raffles and food. And they’ll make sure the event is free of drugs, alcohol and gangs.

Because most of the park is a playfield, bring a blanket or chairs to sit on. Because parking is limited, park at 3009 Portland Ave. and ride a shuttle to the party at 3513 Portland Ave.
